For more than 10 years, FSM has worked to progressively reduce the impact of its activity in the environment and its carbon footprint through a comprehensive project

We plant a tree every day

A new solar panel installation with 1,368 solar panels

The installation of 1,368 solar panels in 6,500 m2 over the hospital roof allows a saving of 120 tons of CO2 emissions and it provides 12.5% of the hospital’s overall energy. This saving equates to plant a tree every day.

Natural courtyards and sustainable architecture

40% less light consumption

The Mollet Hospital was built 10 years ago with an innovative architecture that allows a sustainable use of energy. Natural courtyards filter natural light in all rooms, reducing light consumption by 40% and CO2 emissions by 280,000 kg.

Radiant ceilings and sustainable roofs

Thermal insulation and acoustic control

The gravel and plant rooftops improve the thermal insulation and acoustic comfort. The radiant ceilings are an air conditioning system that works thanks to a water circuit that circulates through a radiant panel under the ceiling. These ceilings promote energy efficiency.

Collection and use of rainwater

In 10 years, annual water consumption had been reduced from 32,000 to 26,000 m3

An 80m3 cistern collects rainwater from the roof. This water is used for the maintenance of our courtyards. We are also improving the efficiency of the water distribution system day by day.

Geothermal energy

148 wells reduce the air conditioning energy consumption by 30%

The Geothermal System of the Hospital de Mollet was the fourth largest project in Europe. This system is formed by 148 wells of 146 meters deep and allows the use of energy stored underground.

100% renewable electricity

Certified renewable energy

100% of the electricity we consume comes from renewable energy sources since 2017.

Recycling and waste management

From 9 to 25 types of waste managed

In 10 years we have increased from 9 to 25 the types of waste we manage. We will continue to focus on recycling and waste management.
